Maybe my favourite piece of this new phase I seem to be in…back to glory of gold, black, teal and all the texture I can build. I even did a gloss varnish rather than our usual matte. This piece took a very long time. So, so many layers… I’m not usually a “careful” painter - typically the energy and freedom to just move unrestricted is what I need to feel better and express myself, but for this piece it was the painstaking detail, the focus for hours on a tiny section that gave me a release and space to breathe.
